The purpose of this study was to verify the moderating effect of achievement goal orientation on the relationship between career aspirations and smart-phone addiction in male students attending Meister High School. Findings revealed a significant correlation between career aspirations, achievement goal orientations, and smart-phone addiction. Achievement goal orientations significantly moderated the influence of career choice aspirations on smart-phone addiction. Concretely, the significantly moderating effect of both the mastery approach goal and the mastery avoidance goal were indicated in the influence of career aspirations on smart-phone addiction. Conversely, the moderating effect of the performance approach goal and the performance avoidance goal were not indicated in the influence of career aspirations on smart-phone addiction. This study can be utilized as a specific and practical resource for working with adolescents dealing with smart phone addiction. Further exploration of differentiated intervention programs and adolescent-specific therapeutic strategies are discussed.
